Fully restored in 2025 – an exceptional historic instrument
Julius Blüthner · Leipzig · 1910 · serial number 81669 · 190 cm
A particularly beautiful and fully restored Julius Blüthner grand piano from 1910, built in Leipzig. An instrument with more than a century of history, fully restored mechanically in 2025 and brought back to life.
This Blüthner combines the character and refined tone of an instrument from the golden age of German piano building with the reliability, playability and precision expected of a modern restored instrument.
A Blüthner from a remarkable period
This grand piano was built in 1910, a period in which Blüthner was one of Europe’s leading piano manufacturers.
At 190 cm in length, the instrument offers impressive musical potential without sounding overpowering in a living room or salon.
The characteristic Blüthner sound is clearly present: a warm, colourful and singing tone, with a particularly beautiful bass and great nuance in the middle and upper registers.
It is above all the combination of warmth, transparency and carrying power that makes this grand piano so special.
Fully restored in 2025
The grand piano was fully restored in 2025, with great attention paid both to its technical condition and to its original character.
The action was adjusted and precisely regulated according to the principles of Precision Touch Design (PTD). This has resulted in an exceptionally even and controllable touch, allowing the pianist to play both softly and powerfully with great control.
The damper mechanism and regulation were also carried out with great precision. The dampers are fitted with adjustable pilots, allowing for highly accurate regulation.
Following the technical restoration, the instrument was carefully voiced in order to preserve as much as possible of the characteristic Blüthner sound.
Not merely restored, but treated with respect for its character
With an instrument of this age, the aim is not to remove its original personality through restoration.
The objective with this grand piano was precisely to preserve the characteristic voice and musical character of the old Blüthner, while bringing its playability and technical reliability to a very high level.
The result is an instrument with a distinctive personality, combined with modern and highly precise playability.
The exterior
The cabinet has been fully restored and refinished with a high-gloss French polish.
The classic design of the grand piano has been preserved. As a result, the instrument retains the appearance appropriate to a Blüthner from the early twentieth century, combined with a beautifully restored finish.
An instrument for the connoisseur
This Blüthner is not a mass-produced instrument or simply another used grand piano.
It is an instrument for someone who values:
• historic German piano craftsmanship;
• a distinctive individual tonal character;
• a warm and singing tone;
• substantial musical projection;
• a meticulously restored and regulated action;
• and the combination of history and modern playability.
A grand piano such as this is ultimately chosen not only for its specifications, but above all for its musical personality.
